This gifted musician takes the audience on a musical journey into the tradition and future of music. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the side-splitting laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues. Performance Magazine calls Tom Rush “fresh — a timeless act.” Tom’s newest album What I Know (released in 2009), his first studio recording in over 35 years is a musical quilt of original and carefully selected compositions that fully deserve “the Rush treatment.” The songs are shorn of elaborate metaphors, and placed in graceful, evocative, straightforward emotional settings. Rush’s warm baritone voice, tanned by experience, humor and melancholy, shines right through the lyrics, illuminating them from within. Tickets: $34. http://www.tomrush.com

Andy Stein has collaborated with musicians as varied as Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Daniels and Kathie Lee Gifford. But he's best known for his regular appearances with Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, the house ensemble of Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion." No "Prairie Home" joke show would be complete without Stein's "Knock Knock" song. He'll perform it at the Grand, as well as light classical, jazz and swing favorites. Hot swing and beautiful ballads from between the World Wars. How fit are you?

In the early 1960s, The Kingson Trio was one of the vanguard groups in the emerging folk music scene. Blending warm and precise musical talent with keen observations of American society, the Grammy-winning Kingston Trio still resonates years later with their classic folk songs (“Scotch & Soda,” “Tom Dooley,” and “Hard Ain’t It Hard”), humor, and good spirits. The current trio – Bill Zorn, George Grove, and Rick Dougherty – retain the unique sound and ambience of this iconic American group. Tickets: $27 / $30 / $34 http://www.kingstontrio.com.

Under leader Ray Benson, Asleep at the Wheel envelops roots music that is eclectic, improvisational and accessible for all audiences. Tickets: $27 / $31 / $35. http://www.asleepatthewheel.com

A rousing spectacle of Celtic music, dance, and ceremony, The Band of the Irish Guards and the Royal Regiment of Scotland continue a proud tradition of pageantry at The Grand. Flurries of colorfully kilted musicians capture the military precision and musical artistry of the British Isles. Dating back hundreds of years, the Guards will perform both traditional folk tunes and other familiar songs. And of course, don’t forget the bagpipes! Tickets: $33 / $36 / $40.

When Tommy and Dick became household names with their landmark TV show, nobody knew exactly how to react to the curious combination of oddball comedy and pointed commentary. But years later, the Smothers Brothers remain as funny and relevant as ever. The offbeat chemistry between firebrand Dick and discombobulated Tommy exemplifies perfect comic timing. The New York Times exclaims, “Their routines together are tighter and sharper than ever!” The Smothers Brothers have been honored with a star on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame and been inducted into the illustrious Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. In 2003 they were presented with the George Carlin Freedom of Expression Award from the Video Software Dealers’ Association recognizing their “extraordinary comic gifts and their unfailing support of the First Amendment.” Later that year, they also received Honorary Doctorate Degrees from their alma mater, San Jose State University. In 2008, The Boston Comedy Festival bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award on the brothers. Tickets: $35 / $40 / $45. http://www.smothersbrothers.com
