Public transportation survey
 
In an effort to gain knowledge individual's experiences with Wilmington's public transportation services, WRC in partnership with members of WRC Working Groups and LoMa Committees, developed a public transportation survey. Please complete the survey and share it with family, friends and co-workers.
 
Respondents will have the opportunity to enter into a raffle for a $50 gift card to Orillas Tapas Bar & Restaurant, one of Wilmington's newest restaurants, located at 413 Market Street.
 
The survey will be available until January 15, 2009.

TLB Home for the Holidays special offer
 
Three Little Bakers presents Home for the Holidays at The Grand from now to Dec. 28. In the spirit of giving, the show is now half price for children 12 and under.
 
The musical is based on the Three Little Bakers very first revue and features holiday songs through storytelling, the imagination of children and the gathering of family and friends.
 
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and $25 for children under 12 (but now half price for children!).

The Nutcracker
 
First State Ballet Theatre will present The Nutcracker at The Grand Opera House on Friday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 20 at 3  p.m.
 
The holiday classic features the company's professional dancers, costumes designed and produced in Russia and Tchaikovsky's enchanting music at family friendly prices.
 
Tickets are $12.50 to $35. Call the Grand box office at 1-800-37GRAND for tickets.
Delaware Art Museum
 
The Delaware Art Museum will continue its family programs of Glory of Stories on Friday, Dec. 19 with The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.
 
The program is fromo 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is $3 per child for children ages 3-6.

Wilmington Children's Chorus Concert wcc
 
The Wilmington Children's Chorus will perform a Holiday Candlelight Concert on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at First & Central Presbyterian Church.

The repertoire will feature a wide selection of songs from the season, from recent classics like Somewhere in my Memory to timeless classics such as O Holy Night and Velvet Shoes, and a number of sing-along carols for audience and choir.
 
Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors, and $10 for students and free for youth ages 16 and under.
 
The church is located at 1101 N. Market Street, on Rodney Square. Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved in advance by calling 302-762-3637.
Santa Bowl Ultimate Frisbee Tournament
 
The Santa Bowl Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, a Benefit for Neighbor In Need, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. in Rockford Park (by the tower) with an after-party at Logan House from 1 to 3 p.m.
 
The event is being held to help raise funds for a young West Wilmington man who was recently assaulted while walking home from his job. Monies raised will help offset medical bills (as the man does not have health insurance).
 
The event will be a Single-Elimination Tournament with 7-person teams (5 on the field with 2 substitutes) featuring DSL Rockford "Rules."
 
The cost is $10 per person. If you are unable to attend but still want to donate, donations should be made to "UPGNA TM Donation" and sent to David Mearns, Treasurer 27 S Sycamore Street Wilmington, DE 19805

The Prequel
 
The Prequel: The Official Pre-Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Timothy's on the Riverfront from 9 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
 
The event is hosted by A&E and will feature DJ Rated R of Kiss 101.7. The cost is $10 but Sagittarius are free before 11:30 p.m.

Theatre N
 
This weekend at Theatre N, Azur & Asmar (The Prince's Quest) will be shown on Friday, Dec. 19 at 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20 at 1 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m.

The animated film is the story of two boys raised as brothers. Blonde, blue-eyed, white-skinned Azur and black-haired, brown-eyed, dark-skinned Asmar are lovingly cared for by Asmar's gentle mother, who tells them magical stories of her faraway homeland and of the beautiful, imprisoned Djinn Fairy waiting to be set free. When the boys grow older, Azur's father brutally separates them, and ejects Asmar and his mother from the palace, but Azur never forgets them. Capturing the flavor of the Arabian Nights, blazing with magnificent colors, this delightful film is a magical experience.

The Nutcracker performed by the Kirov Ballet will be show on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. The ballet was performed at the Mariinsky Theatre and choreographed by Kirill Simonov.
 
Just in time for the holiday season, comes the world's most famous ballet, performed by one of the world's greatest ballet companies.
 
Also at Theatre N, this Sunday, Dec. 21, the "Soul Cinema Sundays" series will continue with the help of local film enthusiast, Leon Barton.  A collector of the "Blaxploitation" film genre, Barton has put together a collection of films that pay tribute to both the late James Brown and Isaac Hayes.
 
The next in the series is Truck Turner, starring Isaac Hayes as a gun touting skip tracer. The event is free and open to the public with a cash bar.

RecycleBank Donations for local school
 
Elementary Workshop Montessori School in downtown has recently won a grant from RecycleBank, the recycling company that rewards Wilmingtonians with discounts at local merchants for recycling.
 
The RecycleBank Green Schools Grant requires schools, students and their communities to work together.  Those who participant in RecycleBank can participate by donating RecycleBank points to EWMS's environmental education program.  For every 100 RecycleBank Points donated, EWMS  will earn $10 toward their grant.

New Year's Eve in Wilmington
 
This year, celebrate New Year's Eve in the City of Wilmington with a number of options:

First Night Wilmington will be held downtown in Rodney Square and surrounding venues from 4 to 10 p.m. The theme is Puttin' on the Ritz and the evening will include champion ballroom dances doing demonstrations and lessons, live entertainment, an ice skating rink,  trackless train, children comedians, jugglers, magicians, a photography exhibit by children in the community, fireworks and much more. Many Wilmington restaurants will have special New Year's Eve celebrations. Included in the list are Orillas Tapas Bar & Restaurant, C.W. Harborside and Deep Blue.
 
 

Noon Year's Eve Celebration at the Brandywine Zoo will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The all ages event will celebrate the New Year with games, crafts, apple cider at noon and more.
